Strategic Conventional Gas Position in the Gippsland Basin

Lakes Blue Energy holds tenure over, or has interests in, what it considers to be among the most prospective areas of onshore Victoria, within the Gippsland and Otway Basins. These regions have historically been major contributors to Australia’s domestic gas supply and remain a key focus area for conventional resource development.

From 2012 to 2021, onshore gas exploration in Victoria was subject to a government-imposed moratorium. This ban was lifted in 2021, and a new regulatory regime was formally introduced in November of the same year. Since that time, Lakes Blue Energy has progressed the regulatory, environmental, and technical processes required to recommence on-ground activity.

The Company’s immediate priority is the advancement of the Wombat Gas Field, located within PRL 2. Together with the adjacent Trifon and Gangell structure, the area represents one of the largest undeveloped conventional gas resources in the state. The field is strategically located near the Longford gas hub and established pipeline infrastructure.

Lakes Blue Energy continues to assess and maintain its broader Victorian acreage, with the objective of supporting long-term east coast gas supply through conventional, low-impact development pathways.
